In 1962, Weyerhaeuser added a Molded Products plant which prospered through the utilization of a technique that made products entirely out of molded wood fibers. Initially, there was an array of molded products manufactured including: gun stocks, stereo cabinet doors, car door panels, trays for school lunches, skateboards, and molded door skins. During the 70’s the Molded Products plant narrowed its product line to concentrate solely on the manufacturing of molded door skins, which remained its focus until its close in 1989.
