In 1965, Weyerhaeuser Company opened a particleboard operation at the Marshfield complex. The particleboard plant manufactured door core and composite panels for shelving and furniture manufacturing applications. The particleboard operations remained a major element to Marshfield’s product line until it was replaced by the Steam Thru technology, which proved to be a more efficient technique for manufacturing particleboard door core.
