1995 - Weyerhaeuser begins implementation of DoorBuilder™
Driven to maintain its leadership position, Weyerhaeuser began the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System in 1995. This technology, dubbed DoorBuilder, configures and prices doors more rapidly, boosts on-time deliveries and tracks orders as they move through the plant. DoorBuilder's order-entry software is so sophisticated that it is based on the same systems Boeing Co. uses to configure its complex 777 airplane wings. The full installation of this process was completed in the spring of 1998. DoorBuilder allowed Weyerhaeuser to double its productivity and service customers faster and more accurately than any other door manufacturer. It was also at this time that Weyerhaeuser made the decision to incorporate technology with their product literature. Weyerhaeuser made the step forward to offer customers a multimedia catalog CD which featured interactive application links, product specifications and company information.
