Intumescent for Holder/Closer/Pivot
Hardware Positive Pressure Approvals
Installation Instructions

Several Marshfield DoorSystems® Positive Pressure Approvals require the use of intumescent in the hardware pocket. Devices typical of this installation are Holders, Closers, and Pivots. In attempt to simplify the understanding of these approvals for our customers, the following recommended
installation guide is provided.
1. Intumescent is required in the pocket with the hardware. The intumescent is to be located such that it extends across the entire device and is free to expand in case of fire. This means that the
intumescent should be located between the device and the floor for bottom pivots and floor closers, and in the bottom of the track for closer and holder hardware. {See the example sketches}
2. Zero FS3000 is the recommended intumescent. Please verify the thickness and other key
dimensions to ensure that the intumescent will fit within the hardware cutout.
3. Prepare the intumescent by cutting it to length and / or width depending on the size of the
hardware cutout and the hardware device. Attempt to maximize coverage of the device while fitting within the cutout.
4. Zero FS3000 comes with an adhesive backer. Remove the backer and affix the intumescent to the device as indicated in the example sketches. If intumescents other than Zero FS3000 are used, please refer to the manufacturer's instructions to determine proper application procedure.
